Condition report:
#4845---- 85 ton.(V) s/n 41061. Built 1977. Acquired new by Timken.



Cab modifications. The fireman’s side of cab has been cut back to the same width as the hoods. There is a walkway from one end to the other on the one side. This cab looks to have been totally cut off & shortened in the middle. Other than the cab mod, it looks to be a good unit.


Air brakes

26 type train air with SA-9 Independent. The brake pipe is intact but is capped at one end & has a plugged off angle-cock on the other. It appeared you need 2 angle-cocks, 2 hoses & a small amount of plumbing on one end to get the train air to function.

NTC 350 FFC Cummins engines Recon date 1-8-04 & 2-13-04; some oil leaks

GT 5558J3 Generators look to be in good condition

2 Quincy 325 air compressors. Compressors have been moved to the top of generator.

GE 763 traction motors

Mag valve type reverser.

Double-clasp brakes; all rigging appears to be in good condition. Brake shoes all ok. Some newer brake straps & swing arms.

Truck / springs looked ok

Wiring condition all appears to be good. Unit has been completely rewired. All contactors & relays looked ok.

Cab floor poor. Cab interior needs paint.

Unit has a lot of surface rust.

Wheels all look poor. The Right side Rims all estimated at 20 to 22 or less. All Right side flanges were “1 1/2 or taller & reading off wheel gauge for thickness. 09+++. (Thin). The Left side Rims were a little better 24 & 25. Flange height was 1 ½ on L1 & 06 & 07 on all others (Tall) the thickness was reading fat off gauge (Thick flanges)

Unit does have Traction motor safety cut-outs.

Bolt-on type Couplers look to be in good condition.

Unit has stairs on both sides

Radiators look to be in poor condition but no leaks (Old) #2 Fair #1 Poor.

Vectran Corp Radio Remote Control. Boxes locked up could not inspect. They were using the remote on this unit so I have to assume it works ok.


It also has a Kenwood Radio that was working.

Front cut leaver bent but work.

This unit also has add-on Traction motor blowers applied. They are belt driven off the generators.

Mechanically unit seams to be a good unit
